Clarty Produce

Clarty is a Scottish dialect word meaning dirty, esp covered in mud. We are a small market garden situated on 4 acres in Brixton, New Plymouth, Taranaki.  We chose “clarty" as it is our patch of dirt, our soil which we nurture and love in order to grow healthy, nutrient dense food, using organic principles and regenerative agriculture (we also don’t mind getting covered in mud!)

At the market we offer a diverse range of seasonal vegetables, fruits, flowers (edible and cut), herbs and eggs from our free range orchard chickens.

Clarty land supports 4 adults, a few dexter cows, chickens, bees, fish, cats & dogs, 100 tree avocado orchard, fruit trees, food forest and home vegetable garden. Excess produce was shared with friends and family, traded at crop swap and donated to food rescue “On The House”. Now we feel ready to expand by creating our market garden so that we can also supply to our local community at the Taranaki Farmers Market and our roadside farm stall.

We think it’s important to know where your food comes from. You are welcome to visit us and learn more about our growing methods. Contact us to organise a visit.
